Allan Quatermain was a big game hunter and adventurer who hailed from Great Britain. Following an expedition that resulted in the death of his son, Quatermain abandoned the British Empire and retired to Kenya. In 1899, he was recruited by Sanderson Reed to lead The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Quatermain was portrayed in the 2003 film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Oscar-winning Scottish actor Sean Connery in his final film appearance.
