“ | Here lie I, between earth and sky, Think upon me, dear passers-by, And you who do my tombstone see Be kind to say a prayer for me. - Richard Ravenal's epitaph |
” |
At Ravenal's Tower outside Ivybridge in Kent is the perplexing tomb of Richard Ravenal (1720 - 1779), said to have been cursed so that he could be buried neither by earth nor sea. Ravenal’s body thus resides in an octagonal room halfway up his tower.
Source material[]
Ravenal's Tower is from Edith Nesbit's The Wouldbegoods (1901), of the Bastable series of children's novels.
